Colline Foundation was founded in 2009 by a young Haitian American named Jimmy Toussaint. During Jimmy's sophomore year of college, the Toussaint family built the largest preliminary school in Leogane, Haiti. The school and the non for profit organization was named after the community of "La Colline", where the school was built and where Jimmy's mother is from. Colline Academy was a top rate educational institution in that area. Unfortunately, during the January 12th earthquake Colline Academy was destroyed. Since then, Colline Foundation has been running one of the most popular international volunteer programs in Haiti. We are mostly driven by the work of volunteers. While we are working hard to rebuild Colline Academy through our Buy One Brick Campaign, we bring people from around the world to Haiti through Haiti Volunteer Trip. Please, check out our programs and don't be afraid to get involved.
Projects Supported by Colline Foundation:
-
Medical Clinic
Space is reserved inside of Colline Academy to maintain a medical clinic. This free clinic would be accessible to the students and the surrounding neighborhoods in Colline, Léogâne. Colline Academy will seek to institute joint programs with medical schools in the Caribbean, West Indies and United States; offering internships at the medical clinic with room and board. Colline Foundation will raise funds to sustain a constant supply of medicine, vaccinations, medical equipment and other materials used for treatment by receiving donations of supplies by medical organizations in the United States and abroad.
-
Dormitories
This is instrumental in creating programs that offer room and board. The dormitories will be used by visiting ESL Teachers, visiting physicians, students who attend Colline Academy and live a great distance from Léogâne and students who have inadequate living conditions. Colline Foundation will raise funds to finance the construction of the dormitories and its staff.
-
Recreation Center
The recreation center will be the center for all of the community’s activities in Colline, Léogâne. It will have a soccer field for a youth soccer league, basketball courts for a youth basketball league, event space, kitchens, afterschool programs, summer programs, and programs for adults seeking to acquire vocational skills. Colline Foundation will raise funds to finance the construction of the recreation center and its staff.
-
Green Energy Program
The infrastructure in Haiti is highly unreliable. Colline Foundation will initiate a Green Energy Program by raising money to purchase solar panels to power Colline Academy, the dormitories, and recreation center. This more reliable source of energy is beneficial to the mission of Colline Foundation. The foundation will raise money to purchase and install a sufficient power grid and finance its maintenance.
